How to Choose the Color of a Saree

• If you are quite tall, choose a saree with large prints, bold colors and broad borders. A saree with big prints will also make you look a little shorter. Slim and tall women look gorgeous in lace and net work sarees embellished with a heavy border. Heavy borders in contrast colors are quite in fashion these days.
• If you are short in height, choose a saree that creates an illusion of length. Light colored sarees with vertical prints and short borders are great choices. • Slim ladies should opt for heavier sarees, preferably embroidered sarees with work lik zari and sequin. Printed sarees with large prints and beautiful designs will make you look cool. Try light colored sarees like off-white, white and other light shades.

To choose a color for a saree you should also take the color of your skin into account, as some colors will stand out more than others depending on this factor.

Women with fair skin can choose almost any color of saree, and they will definitely look beautiful. You can choose any light or dark color as per the occasion. A wide range of pastel shades like lavender, pink and peach will be ideal for evening events. An undertone of silver embroidery with turquoise or emerald green saree will give you a fabulous look. For a day-time event, go for an earthly shade like yellow, maroon or orange.

You should refrain from selecting bright colors if you have a dusky skin tone. Instead of lightning up your complexion, such colors will make you look even darker. It is wise to stick to dark and sober shades like maroon, dark green, brown, tan, ivory and black sarees. If you want to wear bright colors, go for autumn colors like warm brown and golden yellow.

The color of saree you choose also says a lot about your personality, and not all colors will suit your attitude. If you are friendly and relaxed, go for pastel colors like light purple and light green.

As far as red is concerned, there are different shades of the color. Burgundy stands for sophistication, blue-red means assertiveness, while orange-red is chosen by a woman who is lively. Women who wear pinks have an open heart, and an ability to love others. Yellows display optimism and warmth, while orange is a bold color that makes you look playful.
