Covering dark moles

One of the best tricks to cover moles with makeup, is by using a concealer. There are different shades of concealer which can help you make these skin blemishes ‘disappear’! Follow these effective tips on how to hide skin moles with makeup:

  • To cover brown moles and/or darker birth marks, we recommend applying an orange or salmon concealer first and then covering it with a beige color concealer.
  • If your mole has a more rosy hue, we suggest first applying some yellow-y concealer before applying beige.

You can apply the concealer directly onto your mole with your fingers or with a brush. After applying the concealer, we recommend adding some fixing spray or powder to make sure it stay on.

If you’re not one for concealers, you can also opt for normal foundation to hide your moles. We recommend using a liquid foundation which perfectly suits your skin tone. Apply it to the area and then apply some loose pressed powder makeup or talcum powder on top. This method is also great in hiding uneven skin tone or wrinkles.

Mole cover up cream

Some of the best concealers and foundations used to cover moles, scars and blemishes include:

  • Make Up For Ever - UltraHD concealer
  • Nars natural longwear foundation
  • MAC - Studio face and body foundation
  • Dermablend

Makeup for moles

There are women who may have several moles on their face, that don’t necessarily want to hide all of them. If you are only wanting to conceal one mole on your face, or a specific mole, we suggest applying your usual makeup base, and at the end moisten a cotton swab with a little water and press lightly on the mole that you want to highlight (to remove the base foundation). This way, only that particular birth mark or mole is visible while all others remain hidden.

To cover a mole on a more complicated part of the body, we recommend replacing a liquid foundation for a mineral powder foundation or a pressed mineral makeup. These powders often last longer, especially when on the body.

I have a mole on my fo head it is black. I have tried using these all and surgery cannot get rid of it I get bullied for it what should I do ????????

Hi Cailin,
First of all, you should understand that a mole is a feature that makes you unique and highlight who you are and your personality. Secondly, if you can't manage to cover it with makeup through the method mentioned in this article and still want to hide it, maybe you can choose a hairstyle that covers it (get bangs, use a cap or a bandana to cover it). Be creative with hairstyles that look good on you and cover the mole.

Hope this helps

Hi there Louise,

We can't say for sure, but you'll find green, yellow and salmon concealers from many brands in pharmacies.

My skin is severely sun damaged. I am 57 years old, I have larger age spots on my arms and hands and also a few moles, mostly pink bumps. I would love to be able to cover it up, as it makes me a bit self conscious. Haven't found anything that works for me yet. I wanted to see if you have any recommendations for me

The best way to get rid of them is surgery. Though we recommend you visit a dermatologist if they are due to the action of the Sun on your skin. If there are OK he/she will be able to recommend a depigmentation cream that suits your skin.
