Mouthwash with baking powder

As you know, a good mouthwash is essential to keep your mouth clean and ensure its health. Therefore we recommend preparing a homemade mouthwash based on bicarbonate. The reason is that among all the benefits of bicarbonate we can highlight its effects on teeth and the enamel as it kills bacteria and whitens teeth. This is a quick, simple and very effective preparation. Take note.

You just need to add a quarter teaspoon of baking powder into 60 ml of water. To increase the effect and freshness in the mouth of this mouthwash we recommend adding a few drops of an essential oil such as mint or tea tree. Mix all the ingredients in a bottle and your homemade mouthwash will be ready to use.

Mouthwash for medicinal purposes

If your gums are infected or if you suffer from a dental disease, we recommend preparing a antibacterial rinse that will help overcome these problems. Here are two products that will help you fight infections.

  • Goldenseal

One of the best plants to ensure relief in your mouth is goldenseal as it has multiple antibiotic properties. You only need to add a teaspoon of dry goldenseal to a cup of hot water and let it infuse. When it has cooled, strain the plant and use only with the liquid mixture.

We recommend you leave it in the refrigerator to be chilled before use. Remember to rinse out your mouth with this medicinal mouthwash three times a day.

  • Clove

Another good choice to make mouthwash is using cloves as it is a product with antibacterial properties that will help to prevent oral diseases. For this preparation you will need about 30 grams of powdered cloves or, should you not have access to this, between 50 and 100 g of yellow puccoon, a herb commonly used in America.

Mix all ingredients with boiling water and let them sit overnight. The next day strain it and it will be ready. You will have a home made antibacterial mouthwash to ensure the health of your mouth.

Mouthwash with lemon

Lemon is perfect for keeping your teeth healthy as it helps whiten teeth with its bleaching properties. Furthermore, thanks to its vitamin C contribution it also protects teeth and gums from infections and / or bacteria and so better preserves oral health.

To make your own mouthwash from lemon you will need about 20 drops of essential oil of lemon, 30 drops of essential oil of bergamot and three-quarter cup of vodka. Put everything in a bottle and leave to rest for a week. Of course, while the solution is macerating it will be convenient to shake it once a day to make sure the ingredients are well mixed. After the week add to the bottle 3 parts water to one part mouthwash to dilute the solution.

You now have a homemade oral rinse ready to clean every corner of your mouth. Remember not to drink the mixture, simply gargle to secure your oral health.

Mouthwash with essential oils

A very good choice to make a homemade mouthwash is one based on essential oils. You can prepare a mixture of peppermint essential oil, star anise, lemon and rosemary. About 30 ml of each will be enough to make a good amount of product. Place all ingredients into a dark bottle and shake vigorously to mix everything properly.

When using it remember to add two to three drops of your homemade mouthwash with a glass of water and stir before rinsing your mouth with it. Remember to not swallow, only rinse by simply gargling it a little to make its cleaning action reach every corner of your mouth and feel its freshness and absolute cleanliness.

If you like the taste of mint, we have another proposal for you: put in a glass of water some of this fresh herb leaves (you can also add it to the mixture of anise and rosemary leaves). Let the herb release its essence as an infusion, waiting for about 20 minutes. Then let the mixture cool and keep it in a bottle for daily use. The cool feeling in your mouth will be immediate after each use.
