Steps to follow:

1

The first step to go from red to blonde is to buy a hair bleaching kit in your pharmacy as well as semi-permanent blonde dye. The latter, neutralizes the negative effects of fading red hair and dyed effects. Make sure both items are from a reputable manufacturer.

2

Use old clothes in case you accidentally drop chlorine on your clothing.

3

Follow the instructions and apply the bleaching kit on a short lock of your hair first. This test will help ensure that the bleach will not have any unwanted effects on your hair and it will give you an idea of how long you'll have to leave the bleach on your hair to obtain the desired effect. Keep the chlorine away from your eyes, nose and mouth, and use the gloves supplied by the manufacturer to protect your skin from the bleach.

4

Chlorine should be applied to dry hair. Work it in from root to tip and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Put on your gloves, put some of the bleach solution on your fingers and then massage the solution into your hair with your fingers. Apply the bleach on the hair from the root to the tip.

5

Wash out the chlorine. Your hair will be a clear and bright shade of orange.

6

Treat your hair with semi-permanent blond dye, you have to leave it on your hair for about 20 minutes. Apply the dye directly onto the roots, and work it in with your fingers. Periodically perform tests to determine whether the color is blonde enough. If not, apply more dye and repeat this step.

7

Rinse your hair out with shampoo to get the desired colour.
