Put all the flowers in a cup or another container and let them dry in the sun for a few hours. It is very important that the place where you leave them be dry, although with direct sunlight it should not be too hot.

To continue preparing the homemade lavender oil you will need almond oil which you can make yourself. If you do not have the ingredients to make almond oil, olive oil can also used, but keep in mind that the end result will not be as good because the scent of lavender will not be as intense.

When the lavender flowers are perfectly dry you must crush them a bit with a mortar. Do not crush them too much because they may lose their essence.

Then add the almond oil to a pot or saucepan, 3 cups of oil to 1 cup of lavender flowers. If you prefer a less intense smell, add 2 cups of oil instead of 3. If the flowers are not in a cup, try to use a container of the same size of that used to measured the almond oil.

Heat the almond oil over a low heat. When the oil is hot add the dried lavender flowers and leave the mixture on the hob for 2 or 3 hours.

Then you must strain the oil, put it in a jar with a lid and store in a dark place with no light as this can spoil it.

And ready! As you see this is a very simple way to make homemade lavender oil. With this you will not get an essential oil like those sold in perfumeries and beauty centres, since this requires a much longer and complicated process.
