How to Straighten Curly Hair

Girls who have curly hair can also achieve natural straight hair that looks pretty and radiant. Although it may seem an impossible task, if you follow a simple care routine and choose the right products and materials, it is possible to achieve a very smooth and silky-looking mane. In the following oneHOWTO article we give the keys to know how to straighten curly hair and obtain a really surprising result.

Steps to follow:
1

First, use a wide tooth comband detangle your hair to remove all the knots. Then wash your hair as you usually do, without applying too much conditioner so it doesn't look too greasy when you straighten it.

2

Once you have washed your hair, remove any excess water with a towel without rubbing it roughly. Rub it gently to stop it from becoming more voluminous. Now, untangle your hair gently with a wide tooth comb. Try to do it whilst your hair is really wet to avoid frizz.

3

Curly hair is naturally dry, so before straightening it, it is essential that you protect it from the heat from hairdryers and straighteners. Choose a good quality heat protectant and apply it evenly through your hair. Apply it to the tips and apply a little smoothing serum to the middle of the strands so they look silky and pretty. You should also use a natural hair relaxer frequently to make hair straightening easier.

4

To straighten curly hair successfully, divide it up into as many sections as are necessary, depending on the volume and quantity of hair, by using some hair grips to help. Now, using a narrow nozzle on your hairdryer and a round brush start to smooth out each section of hair from root to tip. Turn the brush around with a downward motion whilst drying it so that the hair is dry and smooth.

5

Once you've finished straightening it, blast the hair with cold air to soften the hair fibres. This also sets the hair straight whilst making it looser and beautiful.

6

If you notice that your hair is too voluminous, use some hair straighteners on different sections to achieve hair that's perfectly smooth. Ideally pass the straighteners over your hair with the help of a comb to achieve a finish that's more natural and so your hair doesn't go curly. Be aware that, even though nowadays hair straighteners are made of materials designed to protect our hair, they are still damaging. Therefore, if you want your hair to be completely healthy, you shouldn't use straighteners too much.

Finally, apply some hairspray to set the style and voila!
