You'll need:
  • 300g basic white glycerine soap
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sulfur
  • 1 tablespoon of an oil of our choice
  • Lemon essential oil

Prep the ingredients. The first thing you need to do in order to make sulfur soap at home is to gather all the ingredients ready. For this, cut the glycerin soap base into small cubes and put them aside in a bowl. The aromatic lemon essential oil can be replaced by another scent if this one is not available. As for oil, you can use almond oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, etc.

Melt the glycerin. Now that you have everything, start by melting the glycerin. To do so microwave it until completely liquid but without allowing it to boil. You can also melt it using the bain marie technique.

Add the sulfur. When the glycerin base is melted, start to add the sulfur powder. It is recommended that you first sieve it to remove lumps. Stir it well until completely dissolved and integrated with glycerin.

Add essential oils. Then, pour the oil you have chosen to hydrate the sulfur soap and avoid excessive dryness in our skin. Mix well and incorporate ten drops of essential oil of lemon or whichever essence you have chosen. The essence will give the soap smell as well as the properties of the essence. When you have all the ingredients mixed, add a little color dye. You can choose whichever colour you like, if you want to intensify the tone of the sulfur choose yellow. Stir it well and pour the mixture into molds. If you have individual molds use a large one and cut the soap into bars once it has the right consistency.

You need to dry the sulfur soap for at least one full day. When completely hardened you can remove it from the molds. To apply this homemade soap you should wet the face or the area you want to wash with warm water, lather with the soap and leave to stand for a few minutes. Then rinse with cold water. Depending on the degree of oiliness of your skin you can use it more or less times per week, but keep in mind that this is a soap that dries the skin and therefore it is advisable to use it only sparingly. Sulfur is dangerous if inhaled or gotten into eyes. I think this article should have the danger and cautions listed in touching sulfur powder.

I love this recipe! I altered it a little. I cut n melt a bar of glycerin soap I buy from store and also add 2 Tablespoons of sulfer powder per bar cuz I got something like scabbies. Also, cuz I am a senior, before I put the glycerin into microwave to melt, I just RUN my cut up pieces under running water faucet giving it more water than requires cuz it makes it easier for my old age to stir.
