To make homemade lemon essential oil you will need to gather all the ingredients: a lemon, olive oil and re-sealable bag or covered container capable of withstanding high temperatures, such as a glass jar.
Put a pan with water to warm to use later. Then peel the lemon to remove the peel. If remnants of whitish layer of lemon peel, rub to remove them, we only need the yellow part.
The next step will be to put the lemon peel in the hot water to avoid it losing any of the flavor. Leave it for about one minute.
Meanwhile, place the freezer bag, or container with lid, open in another saucepan and add a little olive oil, to half fill the pan. After a minute, you'll see that the lemon peel has dyed the water slightly yellow. Remove the peel, incorporate it into the bag with the oil and seal it, water is not necessary.
Now, you must heat the bag or container in a bain marie, this is why we introduce a saucepan in the previous step. Thus simulate steam distillation, obtain the infusion and obtain the essential oil of lemon. Leave two to three hours.
When the time's up, remove from heat and leave to stand for 24 hours. The next day, put it in a covered container and store it in a cool place free from humidity.
