To make your homemade clay mask, you can choose between different varieties of clay available. One of the best is green clay although you can also choose between white and red.

Clay, in all its varieties, is usually found in stores specialising in healthy food or herbalists products and some pharmacies that specialise in natural products.

To make your clay mask you should always use a plastic bowl, because in a metal one it will lose its properties.

Mix one tablespoon of clay with a little mineral water, always avoiding the use of tap water. Stir until a smooth paste forms, if you put too much water and your mask is very liquidy, just add some more clay.

Although the clay itself will help you clean your skin, if mix in some essential oil you will strengthen its effects, but we recommend trying a few drops of:

  • Lemon essential oil if you have very oily skin, as its astringent effects will help control oil production in the skin.
  • Sweet almond oil for normal skin.
  • Tea Tree Oil for combination and greasy skin.
  • Rosehip oil is ideal for combating aging and revitalising the skin.
  • Argan oil for very dry skin.
  • You can also apply a tablespoon of honey if you have it on hand.

If you do not have any essential oil we suggest to enhance your homemade clay mask with a little cucumber water. Cut a few slices of cucumber and let stand in a little water between 15 and 30 minutes, then use this water to mix your mask and the results will be amazing, leaving you with clean and purified skin.
