This is thanks to its many components and benefits for the skin, such as vitamin B1 and minerals like magnesium, which are ideal for giving great elasticity to hair. If you want to take advantage of all the beneficial properties of cocoa, in this OneHowTo article we'll show you how to make DIY a chocolate hair mask - a grea solution that suits all hair types.

Steps to follow:
1

Gather the ingredients necessary to make this chocolate hair mask. You'll need:

  • A bar of dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Water

Once you have the ingredients ready, the first step to make a DIY chocolate hair mask is to melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Not sure how? It's very simple, just place the chopped chocolate in a saucepan and put that saucepan in another larger one that has water in it, what is known as bain maire. Leave it on medium-high heat and when you see the chocolate beginning to melt, stir it with a wooden spoon or spatula.

When the chocolate has completely melted, and without removing it from the heat, add two tablespoons of olive oil and water until it reaches the thick consistency of hair dye. You'll know it's the right thickness when you lift the spatula and the mixture does not drip from it.

Pour the resulting mixture into a container and, when cool, the chocolate hair mask will be ready to apply. First, wash your hair as you normally do, then apply the mask to your wet hair from root to tip. Massage it into the scalp well and rub it thoroughly into the tips so they become nourished and hydrated. Leave it on for 30 minutes and if you want to maximise the benefits of the chocolate in your hair, put on a plastic shower cap and blow some hot air at it with your hairdryer. This will help the hair fibres absorb nutrients better. After the half hour is over, rinse with warm water and wash your hair again.
