How to Hide a Big Nose

How to Hide a Big Nose

Everyone has small defects they'd like to hide. Maybe your nose is bigger than you'd like it to be and you feel self-conscious about talking about it with others. You shouldn't resort to extreme measures such as surgery to make your nose look smaller. You can use simple makeup tricks at home instead to hide a big nose. By using foundation and some other products every day, you can create the illusion of a thinner nose, which will help you to make the best of yourself for the rest of the day.

You'll need:
  • Cleanser
  • Towel
  • Moisturiser
  • Base foundation that matches your skin tone
  • Cream or powder to highlight
  • Black eyeliner
  • Red lipstick
  • Translucent powder
Steps to follow:
1

The first step to hide a big nose with makeup is to wash your face in the morning using your usual cleanser and then dry it with a towel. This will remove any dirt and excess oil to help give you an even makeup coverage that's smoother and lasts longer.

2

Use a light moisturizer if your skin is tight or flaky after washing, which will also help to balance your makeup. If you have oily skin or you don't need a moisturizer, skip this step and go directly to step 3.

3

Apply a base foundation that resembles your skin tone in the areas of your face you want to cover, including your nose. Use your fingers or a makeup sponge to apply a small amount of makeup, then add more until you achieve the desired coverage.

4

Use a product to highlight the bridge of your nose. Choose a subtle shimmer cream if you have normal to dry skin, or use a powder if you have combination or oily skin. Use your fingers or a small makeup brush to apply your highlighter along the entire bridge of your nose and then back up to the top, blending the edges with your fingers. This hides the sides of your nose, making it look thinner.

5

Take the focus away from your nose by applying more makeup to a different area of your face. Line your eyes above and below with black eyeliner or draw attention to your mouth with an intense red lip pencil.

6

Now's time to apply some contouring technique. Use one shade darker than your foundation on the sides of your nose and under the tip, this will create shadows, also making your nose look slimmer, as shown below.

7

Set your makeup in place for the day by applying a translucent powder. Lightly apply over your face with a light touch on the nose to avoid making it stand out.
