Making the paste to remove hair is a very simple process that is made with ingredients which you probably already have at home. To make it you need:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 small pot
  • You must also have a thermometer, a spatula to spread the mixture and cotton fabric that will serve as strips to remove the paste.

First of all, mix 1 cup of white sugar in a saucepan with 2 tablespoons water and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Put the pot on the low heat and stir the contents with a rubber spatula until it blends and begins to heat up.

Measuring the temperature is critical when making sugaring paste, so insert a thermometer into the mixture and wait until the temperature reaches 120 °C (248°F). The mixture turns golden brown at this temperature, when this happens turn off the heat and allow the mix to cool until it is tolerable to the touch of the skin.

It is very important that you respect this step to avoid burning your skin.

Cut the cotton fabric into strips 5 cm (2 in) wide by 7 cm (2.7 in) in length to use as removal strips, put aside. It is very important that your skin is perfectly clean and dry to make the process of hair removal by sugar paste be much more simple and effective.

Take a spoonful of sugar paste from the pot with a spatula and place it on the skin, spreading the layer to only cover the area to be waxed. Wait a few seconds for the dough to cool slightly before continuing to the next step.

Place a strip of cotton fabric directly on the hot mix and rub it down with your hands making sure that the sugar paste is attached to your hair but also to the fabric.

Take the lower end of the fabric and pull it with some strength in the direction opposite to that of the hair growth, you will see the cotton strip with the sugaring paste and hair, the same that happens when you wax. Repeat this procedure until all the sugar paste mix and hair is removed from the area being treated and then move on to the next section.

At the end of the hair removal with sugar paste process clean your skin with warm water to remove any residual sugar that may be left. Apply a skin lotion with aloe vera to soothe any skin irritation you may feel.
