All Natural Alternatives to Shampoo

Do you think your shampoo doesn't work at all in keeping your hair clean and cared for? The truth is that this is very likely to happen, since the chemicals in these products can even damage your scalp.

It is for this reason that the "no-poo" movement is recently gaining strength. Taking its name from the phrase no shampoo, it involves not using shampoo when washing your hair. So if you want to follow this healthy method of washing your hair, then you will like this OneHowTo article on all the natural alternatives to shampoo.

Steps to follow:
1

One of the best-known natural alternatives to shampoo are baking soda and vinegar, and both these natural products are very good for washing and taking care of your scalp as well as your hair. And washing your hair with baking soda will keep it clean for longer because it removes excess oil without being harmful.

To do this, make a paste using baking soda and water - a tablespoon per 100ml of water - and use it as a shampoo by rubbing it into the roots and scalp, and leave it for a few minutes. Next, rinse your hair with warm water and then apply the apple cider vinegar diluted with water (the drier your hair, the more vinegar you will need); then wait a few minutes before rinsing it again with water.

2

Another good option to replace shampoo is egg yolks, a method that once used can keep your hair soft and shiny. Furthermore, this method will keep the scalp in optimal condition and even may help hair growth, thanks to the hormones in eggs.

To do this, the first step is to separate the yolk from the egg white and keep it in a glass or small bowl; for very long hair, you can use two or even three yolks. Once you go to wash your hair, you should first wet all your hair with lukewarm or cold water and then massage the yolk in all over your head for about 30 seconds or 1 minute. After this time, you should rinse your hair, (again don't use hot water to avoid cooking the egg).

By using this natural alternative to shampoo, you can also choose to add some vinegar diluted in water for the best results possible and to make your hair look even better.

At present, in this so-called no-poo movement means not using shampoo to wash your hair, some people are opting to follow the idea of co-washing i.e. conditioner washing' or only using conditioner when it comes to keeping your hair healthy.

This is because although the ingredients of both products are similar, conditioners often end up being less aggressive on the scalp. So, choose a product for your hair type and don't use any shampoo on your hair.

Essential oils such as rosemary or lavender oil can help have shiny and silky hair, as well as fighting dandruff if you also add two drops of tea tree oil and another two of baking soda.
